Whitefish Voters Can Cast Ballots on Resort Tax Increase Until April 28

Outcome of special election to determine whether 1 percent tax increase will help fund Haskill conservation easement

Voters in Whitefish are casting ballots this month to determine whether an increase of the city’s resort tax from 2 percent to 3 percent is the best means to help fund a conservation easement in Haskill Basin.

The results of the special election will be tallied April 28. The mail-in ballots were went out April 8 and the results will be online at FlatheadBeacon.com as soon as they are available.

Whitefish residents are encouraged to mail their special election water ballots by Friday, April 24 in order to reach the Flathead Election Office by Tuesday.

Alternatively, voters can drop off their ballots at the City of Whitefish offices at 418 Second Street East (water bill slot available after business hours) or the County Election office at 800 S. Main St # 115 in Kalispell by Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Whitefish city residents that did not receive a special election water ballot in the mail may register and vote at the Flathead County Election Department at 800 S. Main St. #115 until 8 p.m. on April 28.

Voters can easily check registration status by either calling the Election Department at (406) 758-5535 or by going to the Montana Secretary of State website at www.sos.mt.gov and click on the “My voter page” link.

The election department is open Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on April 27 when hours are noon to 5 p.m., and April 28 when hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
