POLSON — Officials in Sanders County say searchers found a 20-year-old Ronan man who went missing over the weekend alive, but slightly injured.

Sheriff Tom Rummel says Troy Akers was found at about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. He was conscious, but lying down and had suffered cuts, bruises and scrapes.

Akers was flown by helicopter to a Missoula hospital for further observation.

Officials say Akers was with three other men who were driving the backroads of the Flathead Indian Reservation when their vehicle got stuck. Akers somehow got separated from the other three, who were rescued on Sunday.

Rummel says searchers first found the vehicle that the men had been in, which narrowed the search area.
