JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. – The South Entrance to Yellowstone National Park, 60 miles north of Jackson, will open at 8 a.m. today.
Park spokeswoman Traci Weaver tells the Jackson Hole News & Guide that the gate opening will clear a quick path for motorists who want to see many parts of Yellowstone, such as Grant Village, West Thumb Junction and Lake Hotel and Fishing Bridge, but will be inconvenient for anyone going to Old Faithful because of roadwork.
Weaver says the quick way to the Upper Geyser Basin across Isa Lake Bridge, on Craig Pass between West Thumb and Old Faithful is expected to remain closed until June 11.
Visitors driving from Norris to Mammoth Hot Springs can expect delays during the summer because of reconstruction of a 5.4-mile section of the road.
