MISSOULA — A Missoula man has been arrested after allegedly strangling his wife, threatening to kill her and preventing her escape until she jumped from a second-floor window.

The Missoulian reports 45-year-old Carl Tanner appeared in court Tuesday and is facing multiple charges.

Tanner’s wife told police that Tanner began strangling her after she came home early Monday morning and told her that he would kill her if she tried to call police.

The woman told police she jumped from the second-story window because she felt like she had no other option. She was transported to Community Medical Center.

Tanner says the woman assaulted him and jumped from the window to make it seem like he had assaulted her.

The judge has ordered Tanner not to have contact with the woman.
