Authorities Identify Driver in Fatal Crash on Highway 2

Daniel J. Trenk, 18, of Coram, died in June 2 collision near Glacier International Airport

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a man killed June 2 in a three-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 2 south of Glacier International Airport.

The victim is Daniel J. Trenk, 18, of Coram, who was the driver of an Oldsmobile that entered oncoming traffic and struck an SUV head-on. The SUV then collided with a pickup truck.

Trenk was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger in the Oldsmobile and a mother and infant in the SUV were taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office and the Montana Highway Patrol. Additional information will be released when it is available.
