BOZEMAN — A Bozeman man faces a negligent homicide charge in the death of his girlfriend in Big Sky.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports that a $250,000 warrant has been issued for the arrest of 31-year-old David Hughes. He remained at large Tuesday evening.

Police say Hughes struck and killed 28-year-old Kerri Ann McKinney with his pickup after an argument over a dirt bike on April 13.

Court records say Hughes told investigators that McKinney was trying to get into his truck as he drove away and when he looked in his rear-view mirror, he saw her lying in the road.

McKinney was declared brain dead the next day. A medical examiner determined she died of blunt force trauma to her head.
