HELENA — A federal judge is holding a hearing on whether the founder of Montana’s Yellowstone Club should be freed after spending more than two months in jail for not following a court order.
Tim Blixseth has been jailed in the Cascade County Detention Center since April 20. U.S. District Judge Sam Haddon found the 65-year-old Washington state resident in contempt for not fully accounting for the $13.8 million sale of a resort in Mexico.
Creditors say Blixseth sold the Tamarindo resort in defiance of a previous court order in the Yellowstone Club bankruptcy case.
After being jailed, Blixseth submitted more than 9,000 pages of financial documents that he said was a full accounting of the sale. The creditors say the documents just repackage what was previously submitted.
The hearing is scheduled Thursday morning in Helena.
