After 23 years of service, Polson Fire Chief John Fairchild resigned from the Polson Fire Department to pursue other opportunities.

Polson city officials thanked Fairchild for his service both on the police and fire departments and wished him well in his new pursuits.

In response to his resignation, Polson City Manager Mark Shrives named Assistant Police Chief Clint Cottle to the position of Interim Fire Chief.

Cottle has worked in emergency services for Polson since June 2002. He also served on the Polson Police Department as a patrol officer, detective, patrol sergeant and assistant police chief.

“I am excited and honored to join the ranks of the Polson City/Rural Volunteer Fire Department,” Cottle said.

Shrives said the city is excited about Cottle’s new role as Interim Fire Chief and looks forward to his leadership.
