WOLF CREEK, Mont. — A head-on collision between two pickup trucks in Montana killed three people and injured five others.
A witness told the Independent Record that one pickup was traveling south in the northbound lane of U.S. 287 north of Wolf Creek when it collided with a northbound truck hauling a hay trailer Wednesday morning.
Taiya Ryan, of Arizona, says the truck pulling the trailer tried to swerve but was unable to avoid the collision.
Montana Highway Patrol Sgt. Jay Nelson said a Lewis and Clark County bridge crew was traveling in the area and used an excavator to pull the vehicles apart.
The injured were taken to hospitals in Great Falls and Helena.
