Fish, Wildlife and Parks Officials to Update Goals, Vision

Officials are updating their mission for the first time in two decades

HELENA — Montana wildlife officials are updating their mission for the first time in two decades.

The Helena Independent Record reports Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is traveling the state to hold nine meetings soliciting public input on the department’s vision for the next 10 years.

Agency responsive management supervisor Charlie Sperry says changing demographics in the state and the department itself have officials looking to update its goals and a vision for the future.

He said more residents and visitors are interested in recreation. Sperry said a younger workforce in the agency makes this a good time for remaining senior staff members to pass on institutional knowledge.

The first meeting will be in Billings. A meeting will be held in Kalispell on Aug. 12.
