The Hockaday Museum of Art hosts its biggest fundraiser of the year from July 17 to 19, with the 47th annual Arts in the Park festival in Kalispell.
Festival attendees will be treated to a juried show, wherein the staff at the museum select the pieces from a pool of artists. This year, there will be 110 local and visiting artists and craftspeople.
Daily admission is $3, and children ages 6 and under get in free. A $5 button gets the bearer into the festival all weekend, as well as unlimited admission to the museum during the festival. Currently, the museum boasts a solid range of exhibits, such as A Timeless Legacy – Women Artists of Glacier National Park, as well as works for fixed price sale by numerous artists who participated in the Plein Air Glacier – Exploring Glacier’s Timeless Legacy event.
Not only will attendees see a wide selection of arts and crafts, but they will also have an extensive lineup of musicians to listen to while perusing the aisles, with a new performer taking the stage every hour.
Another complement to the art will be the wide array of food vendors participating in this year’s event, including Amazing Crepes, Big Bear Chocolates, Carl’s Hand-dipped Corn Dogs, Glacier Shave Ice, Montana Dogies, Polebridge Bakery, Sinful Pleasures Expresso, Slick’s Smokehouse & BBQ, Sweet Peaks Ice Cream, Sweet Pickins Kettle Corn, Tres Hermanas Mexican Grill and the Whitefish Figure Skating Club with their famous fresh-squeezed lemonade.
Glacier Sun Winery will host a premium wine garden featuring local wines, open each day at noon.
For the kids, Saturday bring “Arts in the Parks Side” from Park Side Credit Union, featuring kid’s scenic mural painting, mini-kite making, fly-tying, para-cord bracelet and key chain making, and badge making.
Arts in the Park is the Hockaday’s primary annual fundraiser, and proceeds go toward keeping the museum open and operational. For more information, including a lineup of musicians, visit www.hockadaymuseum.org or call 406-758-752-5268.
