Man Suspected of Setting 2 Fires Charged With Arson in Helena

Boos is set to appear in Lewis and Clark County Justice Court on Friday

HELENA – A man is facing felony arson charges for two fires he reported to authorities himself.

The Independent Record reports the charges were filed late Thursday against a 31-year-old Daniel Boos over a blaze at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore on July 16 and a brush fire south of Helena on July 14.

Court documents say Boos told investigators that he got a sense of empowerment from starting the fires. Authorities say the man said the fires got away from him before he could put them out.

Boos is set to appear in Lewis and Clark County Justice Court on Friday.

It’s unclear whether he has a lawyer.
