Montana Gov. Steve Bullock has proclaimed that all flags in the state must be flown at half-staff on July 21 in honor of the four U.S. Marines and one Navy sailor killed in the July 16 shootings in Tennessee.

“The thoughts and prayers of my family and administration are with the friends of these brave servicemen and with the people of Tennessee,” Bullock wrote in his proclamation.

The shooting took place at two military facilities in Chattanooga, Tennessee, when the gunman, 24-year-old Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, opened fire. The four Marines were killed at the scene, while the Navy sailor later died as a result of his injuries.

The gunman was also killed during the shooting.

One of the Marines killed in the attack in Tennessee briefly attended the University of Montana and met his wife while he was living in Missoula.

University spokeswoman Peggy Kuhr said Friday David Wyatt attended the school for one semester in 2002. She says school records did not reveal why he left.
