Nearly a dozen people were sent to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon after a passenger van flipped over while driving down Blacktail Mountain Road near Lakeside.
Of the 14 people who were inside the van, a “majority” of them were taken to the hospital as a precaution, said Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Andrew Horton, although no one sustained any life-threatening injuries.
According to Horton, the accident was reported shortly before 4 p.m. Although details were limited, Horton said that it appeared the van, which had been carrying people working on a forestry project, was going too fast down the hill when it went into a curve. The vehicle slid sideways and then flipped over.
Horton said most people in the van were wearing seatbelts and that it is likely the driver will be cited.
