MISSOULA — The Garden City Softball team won the 2015 Senior Softball World Series in Delaware over the weekend.
The Missoula team defeated a team from Escanaba, Michigan 10-0 in the championship on Saturday in Lower Sussex, Delaware.
Pitcher Macy Newbary threw a one-hitter and hit a three-run homer in the game carried on ESPN.
Center fielder Natalie Schwab made a diving catch in the sixth inning that earned the top spot on ESPN SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays of the day.
The team, made up of high school players from Missoula, returned home Sunday and celebrated with a ride through town on a fire truck.
The Garden City team was runner-up in last year’s Senior Softball World Series. This year they went 6-0 and outscored their opponents 60-5.
