$100,000 Bail Set for Missoula Man Accused of Bear Spray Attack

Robert Allen Ervin faces four felony charges including aggravated burglary and assault on a minor

MISSOULA — A Missoula County Justice of the Peace has set bail at $100,000 for a man accused of breaking into his estranged wife’s house and attacking her with bear spray.

The Missoulian reports that 23-year-old Robert Allen Ervin faces four felony charges including aggravated burglary and assault on a minor in connection to the Tuesday morning incident.

According to charging documents, Ervin sprayed both his wife and their 2-year-old daughter after breaking into their home and asking for money. Both victims and Ervin’s sister were transported to the hospital for treatment.

During Ervin’s first court appearance Wednesday, the justice said Ervin was a habitual methamphetamine user who has a criminal history dating to 2013.
