Kalispell firefighters successfully extinguished a fire that broke out in a hotel on Monday.
The Kalispell Fire Department was dispatched to the Super 8 Motel at 1341 First Ave East around 5:53 p.m. in response to an automatic fire alarm.
Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke in the common areas of the first floor of the facility and immediately evacuated the occupancy, according to Kalispell Fire Chief Dave Dedman. The fire was burning in a shared wall between two rooms on the first floor. The fire was immediately contained to the area and extinguished quickly, Dedman said.
No injuries were reported and damage estimates are $10,000. An investigation determined that the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction.
