HELENA — A man charged with killing a Great Falls man and fleeing to Helena, setting off a three-day manhunt, is scheduled to appear in District Court on a deliberate homicide charge.

Cascade County Attorney John Parker says 26-year-old Branden Conrad Miesmer was scheduled to make an initial appearance before District Judge John Kutzman at 1 p.m. Friday. Miesmer was transferred to the Cascade County regional jail in Great Falls after a video appearance in Justice Court in Helena on Thursday.

Miesmer is charged with killing 26-year-old Cody Steve Bruyere late Sunday or early Monday. A man and a woman reported Miesmer forced them to drive him to Helena, where he eventually released them. Officers say Miesmer forced a man and two children out of a car near Lake Helena Monday morning, but soon abandoned that car. He was arrested late Wednesday afternoon.
