UM Student Charged with Sex Assault

Fazliddin Sharipov appeared in Missoula Municipal Court on Friday

MISSOULA – A 27-year-old international student at the University of Montana has been charged with sexually assaulting a female student.

Authorities say Fazliddin Sharipov, of Tajikistan, appeared in Missoula Municipal Court on Friday and pleaded not guilty to five misdemeanor counts of sexual assault.

Missoula Police Sgt. Jim Klawitter said the Tajikistan consulate has been notified of the arrest.

UM Police Chief Marty Ludemann says the assault was reported on Aug. 28.

Sharipov was being held on $7,500 bail.
