BILLINGS — A 32-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of deliberate homicide after Billings police made a traffic stop and found a dead man in the passenger seat of a sport utility vehicle.

Witnesses reported the woman was driving erratically at about 4:10 p.m. Tuesday. Lindsay April Haugen was pulled over at about 5 p.m. and police found the victim.

Lt. Casey Hafner says Haugen reported she had been dating the 25-year-old man since August. They had started driving in Washington state and were apparently traveling to North Dakota to look for work. It was not clear where they are from.

Hafner says Haugen was detained based on her interview with investigators.

Hafner would not comment on the cause of death or identify the victim. An autopsy was planned Thursday.
