BILLINGS — Crews will be checking Beartooth Pass Friday morning to see if they can reopen the highway after blowing and drifting snowfall shut it down.
The Billings Gazette reports hat the highway was initially closed Thursday morning at the Montana, Wyoming state line, but high winds and snow squalls forced more closures.
From Montana, motorists can drive to Vista Point, about 20 miles from Red Lodge. On the Wyoming Side, the gate is locked at Long Lake so travelers will have to turn around at that point and take either 212 to Cooke City and Yellowstone National Park, Chief Joseph Highway to Cody or WY Highway 120.
