POLSON — A couple accused of attacking a Montana daycare owner who refused to hand over the man’s three children is now facing felony charges.

The Missoulian reports 31-year-old Francis Jackson and 21-year-old Tashiana Schlensker appeared in court Monday. Jackson has been charged with aggravated burglary and custodial interference, while Schlensker is accused of assault with a weapon in the Oct. 7 beating of Martha McClure.

Lake County officials say Jackson had arrived at McClure’s Ronan daycare center with Schlensker to pick up his three young children. McClure knew Jackson didn’t have legal custody of the children, so she didn’t allow them to leave with their father.

Police say Jackson and Schlensker then assaulted McClure, who was hit in the face with a shovel.

The couple remains jailed on $100,000 bail.
