Whitefish Secures Conference Title as Football Playoffs Approach

The high school football regular season is coming to a climactic ending as local teams jockey for positioning.

The Whitefish Bulldogs (7-1 overall, 3-0 in conference) have locked up the Northwestern A conference title and a guaranteed playoff seed. The Bulldogs banked Frenchtown 45-0 last Friday. Whitefish hosts Hamilton at 7 p.m., Oct. 23 in the final regular season game.

Columbia Falls (3-3, 1-1) travels to Frenchtown (3-5, 0-2) on Friday for a pivotal regular-season finale. The Wildcats defeated Polson 35-26 last week. The Pirates (3-4, 1-2) host Havre on Oct. 23.

In Class AA, Glacier defeated Butte 46-6 last week to improve to 6-2 and move into third place in the standings.

The Wolfpack play crosstown rival Flathead (5-3) in a can’t-miss showdown on Friday night inside Legends Stadium. Helena Capital edged Flathead 24-21 last week and the Braves sit in sixth place in the AA standings.

Glacier travels to Missoula Big Sky Oct. 30 in the final game of the regular season. Flathead hosts Missoula Sentinel Oct. 30 in the finale.

In Class B action, Bigfork defeated Eureka 32-14. The Vikings (4-3, 2-1) host Troy (2-5, 2-1) in a pivotal regular-season finale and Western 7B conference matchup on Oct. 23.
