Ten members of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes will face off for five open seats on the tribal council in December.

The field of candidates was whittled down from more than two dozen to 10 on Oct. 17 during a primary election.

In Arlee, Troy Felsman will take on James Bing Matt. In Dixon, Anita L. Matt will face off against James L. Morigeau.

To represent the Hot Springs area, Leonard W. Gray will face off against Gene Lozeau.

In Pablo, Britton W. Salois will face Dennis L. Clairmont in hopes of representing that community.

And in St. Ignatius, Wade Hendrickson will go up against Ron Trahan.

The general election is Saturday, Dec. 12. The winners will serve four-year terms and will be seated in January. At the same time, a new tribal chairman will be selected by the council.
