MISSOULA — Three University of Montana football players have pleaded guilty to misdemeanor trespass charges for entering an occupied home after a party.
The Missoulian reports Kendrick Van Ackeren, Joseph Counts and John Schmaing were all given six-month suspended sentences Wednesday. All three have been suspended from the football team following the Sunday incident.
Police responded early Sunday after a family reported burglars in their Missoula home. The three football players were arrested along with UM students Maclain Tomlinson, who was with them in the home, and Courtney Reep, who was their designated driver.
According to court proceedings, the four men thought the home was under construction and unoccupied, so they went inside to escape the rain.
UM sports information director Eric Taber says the players’ suspensions are being re-evaluated.
