Glacier Takes Down Helena; Whitefish Rolls Past Sidney

Havre eliminates Columbia Falls; Missoula Loyola defeats Bigfork

Thomas Trefney rushed for 211 yards and a touchdown and Leif Ericksen passed for another 211 yards and a touchdown as Glacier eliminated Helena 23-13 in the opening round of the Class AA playoffs on Saturday in Helena.

The victory marked Glacier’s first over Helena and the program’s first road playoff success.

The Wolfpack (9-2) advanced to the semifinal round for the fifth year in a row and will play top-ranked Bozeman (10-1) this week. Bozeman defeated Glacier 24-10 in the second week of the season.

Helena Capital (9-2) takes on Billings Senior (10-1) in the other playoff game. Billings Senior defeated Billings West 38-9 in the first round and Helena Capital eliminated Flathead 15-0.

Cameron Anderson kicked a 28-yard field goal in the second quarter and Scout Willicut added a 19-yard touchdown catch to cut Helena’s lead to 13-9.

Caleb Jones scored a 4-yard TD in the third and Trefney notched another score, from five yards, in the fourth as the Wolfpack defense held the Bengals scoreless in the second half.

Whitefish 24, Sidney 0

The Whitefish Bulldogs piled up 371 yards of offense and held the Sidney Eagles to 89 yards in a second-round home victory in the Class A playoffs on Saturday.

Whitefish (9-1) hits the road to play Miles City in the semifinals on Nov. 14 at 1 p.m.. Dillon hosts Havre in the other semifinal game.

Whitefish quarterback Luke May ran for two touchdowns and passed for another, a 16-yard connection with Brian FauntLeRoy in the fourth quarter. May finished with 177 yards passing and 23 yards on the ground. FauntLeRoy finished with nine catches for 126 yards.

Haley Nicholson kicked a 21-yard field goal in the third quarter.

Havre 47, Columbia Falls 13

Havre jumped ahead 28-7 at halftime and held off Columbia Falls in the quarterfinal round of the Class A playoffs on Saturday.

Havre advanced to the semifinal round and will play at Dillon.

Austin Green scored off a 65-yard pass from Dakota Bridwell in the the second quarter and Sean Hoerner scored off a 12-yard pass from Bridwell in the fourth.

Columbia Falls ends the season with a 5-4 overall record.

Missoula Loyola 26, Bigfork 16

The Rams scored a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter and held off the Vikings to secure the Class B playoff victory in Missoula on Saturday.

Missoula Loyola advanced to the semifinal round and will host Huntley Project this weekend.

Hugo Schyberg kicked a 24-yard field goal in the first quarter to give Bigfork an early 3-0 lead. Loyola’s Aidan Collins scored two unanswered touchdowns before Bigfork’s Adam Jordt returned an interception 35 yards for the scoring, cutting Loyola’s lead to 12-9.

Jonathan Landon notched Bigfork’s other touchdown, a 1-yard run in the third quarter.

Landon finished 12-of-28 for 168 yards and an interception. Matthew Farrier had 198 yards rushing on 18 carries and 86 yards receiving on five catches. Jordt finished with 82 yards receiving.

Bigfork ends the season 6-4.
