Annie Hill showed why she is the fifth-ranked high school cross country runner in the nation on Saturday.
Less than a month after breaking the all-class state record in Montana, the Glacier sophomore won the championship girls race at the Nike Northwest Regional in Boise, Idaho, clocking 17:32 for 5K.
Hill emerged victorious against the region’s top runners, including Billings Senior’s Christina Aragon, who placed second.

Hill won her second straight Class AA state championship last month in record fashion, 16:30.71 for three miles.
She will not race in the Nike Championships in Portland on Dec. 5 and instead will compete at the Foot Locker West Regional Championship on that same date. Hill placed fourth at Foot Locker regional last year, running 18:11. She advanced to the national championship and earned eighth, 17:52.
