DC Orr, a candidate for Libby City Council, is requesting a recount after losing by one vote on Nov. 3.
Orr was expected to formally submit his request to Lincoln County election officials on Nov. 17. In an email to local newspapers, including the Beacon, Orr said he planned on personally inspecting the ballots because “I don’t trust the local election system.”
Orr, a former city councilor, has been a longtime critic of local government officials in Lincoln County, especially Libby Mayor Doug Roll. This year’s municipal election featured nine candidates for council, including Roll who decided to run as a “spoiler” earlier this year. Voters opted to reelect incumbents Allen Olsen and Peggy Williams and political newcomer Brian Zimmerman. A 10th candidate, Dejon Raines, ran unopposed to complete the four-year term she was appointed to earlier this year when Robin Benson stepped down.
