Another national franchise is coming to Kalispell in the form of Chick-fil-A, a fast food chain that specializes in chicken sandwiches.

The new 4,500-square-foot restaurant will be the first Chick-fil-A in Montana.

Plans were submitted to the city of Kalispell recently detailing the future restaurant, which will break ground in spring with a planned opening of late summer or early fall 2016. The new restaurant has a project value of $750,000. It will be built at 35 Treeline Dr. next to Verizon in the new development site that includes Cabela’s and MacKenzie River Pizza.

Chick-fil-A has planned to build a restaurant in Kalispell for years and purchased an empty building pad on the north end of Kalispell in 2013 but has waited until now to move forward with construction.

The first Chick-fil-A restaurant opened in 1964 and has since expanded with more than 1,900 restaurants in 42 states.
