The Kalispell Police Department SWAT team was dispatched to a west side neighborhood Thursday night after a man allegedly refused to come out of his residence following a street fight.

According to a press release, police received a report of gunshots and several people fighting in the street on Hawthorn West Road at approximately 11:49 p.m. When police arrived they found two men fighting in the middle of the street. After detaining the men, the officers learned that a third man involved in the disturbance had gone into his house.

Officers tried to make contact with the man but he refused to come out. After numerous attempts, the Kalispell Special Response Team was called to the scene. Eventually the man agreed to come out and was taken into custody.

Kalispell Police Capt. Wade Rademacher said the incident remains under investigation.
