Firefighters from Kalispell, Evergreen and West Valley saved a home on Hawthorn Avenue in Kalispell on Tuesday.

According to Kalispell Assistant Fire Chief Jon Campbell the fire was reported early Tuesday afternoon and started inside the garage. Firefighters from around the area were able to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading into the house. No one was home when the fire started.

A dog was inside the home and apparently went into hiding. Firefighters found the dog, named Rocky, when he came out of his hiding spot soon after the blaze was contained. The dog appeared unharmed.

Campbell said the cause of the blaze is under investigation. The fire temporarily closed Hawthorn Avenue.
