Flathead Valley Economic Forecast Event at FVCC

The event begins at 7:30 a.m. with a networking session followed by the speakers at 8 a.m.

The 14th Annual Flathead Valley Economic Forecast will feature a regional director from the Federal Reserve Bank as well as local experts who will discuss the various economic prospects of 2016.

Economist Joe Mahon from the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis will serve as a keynote speaker at the event on Wedenday, Feb. 3. The event begins at 7:30 a.m. with a networking session followed by the speakers at 8 a.m. The event is at Flathead Valley Community College.

Mahon’s primary responsibilities involve tracking several sectors of the Ninth District economy, an area that covers Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Montana, and portions of Wisconsin and Michigan. He will discuss the economic outlook for the Ninth District based on the most recent economic indicators and the Minneapolis Federal Reserve’s forecasting model.

Also on the agenda for the 2016 forecast are Dr. Brad Eldredge, vice president of instruction and student services, and Maya Tsidulko, institutional research analyst, both with Flathead Valley Community College. They will review the change in employment in various industries in the Flathead Valley. Additionally, Certified General Appraisers Ellie Clark, MAI (Clark Real Estate Appraisal), and Barbra Bennett, MAI (Bennett Appraisal Services) will recap the 2015 residential and commercial real estate markets and look at what is to come for 2016.

The Flathead Valley Economic Forecast is a Montana West Economic Development signature event, and is held during the first quarter of every year. The event is open to the public and ticket prices are $30 per person.
