MISSOULA — A man who pleaded guilty to robbing the Gray Wolf Peak Casino and embezzling money from clients of his contracting company has been sentenced 29 years in prison.

The Missoulian reports 33-year-old David Whaley was sentenced Wednesday to 29 years in prison with 26 years suspended.

Whaley had pleaded guilty to felony robbery in connection with the 2011 robbery at the Evaro casino. While he was released pending sentencing, authorities began investigating him for embezzlement.

Clients of his contracting company alleged he took money from them in 2015 without completing the work he had agreed to.

Authorities also found Whaley had violated his terms of release by entering casinos and gambling.

Whaley, who also pleaded guilty to the embezzlement charges, has been ordered to pay back nearly $70,000.
