Western A Divisionals: Columbia Falls Girls, Polson Boys Advance to Championship Games

Divisional championship games will be Saturday in Butte

The Columbia Falls Wildkats advanced to the Western A Divisional basketball championship game on Friday, guaranteeing themselves a trip to the Class A state tournament.

Columbia Falls defeated Dillon 51-45 in the semifinal round of the divisional tournament in Butte.

Peyton Kehr scored 19 points, Ellie Johnson had 14 and Kiara Burlage netted 12 for the Kats (19-1).

Columbia Falls will play the winner of Butte Central and Frenchtown in Saturday’s championship game at 8:30 p.m.

Hamilton eliminated Polson 62-35 and Corvallis eliminated Whitefish 37-35 on Friday.

In the boys tournament, Polson defeated Hamilton 57-47 in Thursday’s semifinal game. The Pirates will play Dillon in Saturday’s championship game.

Dillon defeated Butte Central 59-29 in the semifinals.

Whitefish eliminated Columbia Falls 72-52 early Friday. The Wildcats season ends at 4-16. Corvallis eliminated Stevensville 67-57.

Whitefish will play Hamilton at 8 a.m., Saturday in loser-out action. The winner advances to the consolation game at 3 p.m.
