Class AA Teams Vie for State Tournament Berths

Flathead boys to host Glacier in playoff game on Tuesday

The regular season has ended and it’s playoff time for Class AA basketball teams.

On the boys side, Flathead (7-13 overall, 4-8 in Western AA) hosted Glacier (6-14, 3-9) in a playoff game on March 1. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. The teams split during the regular season, and the winner advances to a second playoff match against Helena Capital (11-9, 6-6) on March 4. The game will be in Helena at 6 p.m. and the winner will advance to the state tournament.

Missoula Big Sky (11-8, 6-6) plays Missoula Sentinel (9-11, 5-7) in the second playoff game on March 4 to determine a trip to state.

Missoula Hellgate (17-3, 10-2) was the top team in Western AA and earned an automatic berth at the state tournament along with second-place Helena (12-8, 9-3).

The AA boys and girls state tournaments are in Bozeman, March 10-12.

On the girls side, Glacier (12-8, 6-6) is hosting Missoula Big Sky (11-8, 6-6) on Thursday at 7 p.m. The winner advances to state.

Flathead (4-16, 0-12) travels to Helena to play Capital on March 1. The winner plays at Missoula Hellgate (12-8, 7-5) on March 4 at 7 p.m.

Missoula Sentinel (19-1, 11-1) won the West and earned an automatic trip to state along with second-place Helena (13-7).
