Fourth UM Cabinet Member Announces Retirement

Head of the Alumni Association will step down in September

MISSOULA — The University of Montana has announced the retirement of the fourth member of the president’s Cabinet this school year.

The Missoulian reports that Bill Johnston, who is the head of the Alumni Association, will step down in September. President Royce Engstrom sent an email to the campus Wednesday praising Johnston for his 36 years of service to the university.

Johnston has served as director of the Office of Alumni Relations and president and CEO of the Alumni Association since 1988.

The three other university officials who have announced their retirements this school year include Vice President for Student Affairs Teresa Branch, Provost Perry Brown and Peggy Kuhr, vice president for integrated communications. Their retirements take effect at the end of June.
