The former treasurer of the Somers/Lakeside Parent Teacher Association has been accused of stealing more than $7,000 from the group in 2015.

Kendra Dalke was charged with felony theft last month and will be arraigned on March 17.

According to court documents, PTA members raised concerns about how Dalke was handling the group’s expenses in September 2015. A month later, Dalke told another PTA member that she had stolen $4,600 of the PTA’s funds. That member reported the theft to law enforcement.

On Nov. 17, Dalke talked to a Flathead County Sheriff’s Office deputy. She told the deputy that she had moved $2,000 from the PTA account to her own account and that she had also used the group’s debit card to withdraw money on other occasions. She estimated that she took between $4,600 and $4,800 from the PTA.

In December, a review of the PTA account documents found that $7,686.75 had gone missing from the PTA account between December 2014 and November 2015.

Dalke made an initial appearance in Flathead County District Court on March 3. During that hearing, she told Judge David M. Ortley that she was currently residing in Oregon.

If convicted, Dalke could face up to 10 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
