Montana Tops FCS in Attendance, Averaging 24,139

Second year in a row UM has had the best attendance

MISSOULA — The University of Montana topped the Football Championship Subdivision in attendance for the second straight year, averaging 24,139 for seven home games.

Montana’s average was higher than 44 Football Bowl Subdivision schools, including seven teams from the Mountain West Conference.

Jacksonville State was second at 20,598, followed by Yale (20,547), James Madison (19,498), Montana State (19,172), Liberty (18,990) and five-time defending national champion North Dakota State (18,497).

Montana set a game attendance record of 26,472 fans for the Grizzlies’ victory over North Dakota State 38-35 in the first game under head coach Bob Stitt. Montana averaged 23,777 in 2014.
