It’s Primary Election Day, and voters who haven’t cast their ballot can still do so in Flathead County and most western Montana precincts.

In Flathead County, polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 7.

At the poll, voters will receive two ballots – one for the Democratic Party and one for the Republican Party. Each voter can only mark one political party’s ballot.

At the general election in November, voters can vote for both major parties.

People who are not registered to vote must appear in person at the Flathead County Election Department, which has been temporarily relocated to the Country Fair Kitchen Building at the Flathead County Fairgrounds, and fill out a voter registration card.

Voters who need to register should bring a Social Security card or a driver’s license.

Voters in Montana can register to vote up until 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Voters who have received an absentee ballot and haven’t voted yet can fill out the ballot and return both – the Democratic and Republican ballots – to their polling place or at the county elections office.

On the Secretary of State website, registered voters can find their local poll location by clicking on the “My Voter Page” button and entering their names and date of birth. The “Register to Vote” button also instructs people how to register to vote.

In order to vote, you must be 18 years old on or before Election Day, a U.S. citizen, and a Montana resident.

Voters should bring a picture ID, or a document that includes the voter’s name and address – a utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, voter confirmation notice, government check, or another government item that shows the voter’s name and address will suffice.

For more information, voters can call their local county election offices.
