The explorations continue as Whitefish Mountain Resort announces its opening day for the summer season: Saturday, June 18. Between mountain biking, zip lining, and an aerial adventure park, one is sure to find their adrenaline fix. There is even a spider monkey course for the younglings — just make sure they’re 34 inches or taller. For those who can do without an adrenaline bump, there are scenic lift rides and a walk in the treetops.

Among the many activities, the progress of the construction on Big Mountain’s trails is important to note for the serious mountain bikers. The trails will be ready by the resort’s opening, weather permitting. In addition to the Bad Rock Trail List, a new network of shorter trails is set to open in what’s called the Bad Rock Zone. If you are new to mountain biking, the Bad Rock Zone is the place to start. These shorter, less difficult trails offer a smooth progression before riders experience the trails from the summit.

The resort aims to keep the dedicated community it had in the winter, and is offering free passes to some of the summer activities to show its gratitude for the winter pass holders of the 2015/16 season. The pricing lists for the various activities are provided on the resort’s website; visit www.skiwhitefish.com under the summer tab. Reservations are required for the Zip Line Tours. Call at 406-862-2900. The resort will be open daily through Labor Day, and Friday-Sunday in September.
