A family of five was rescued by helicopter late Monday after their raft flipped over in the Middle Fork of the Flathead River just east of West Glacier.
According to Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry, the family was traveling down the Middle Fork near Glacier National Park Monday afternoon when their boat overturned. The five people ended up stranded on a rock in the middle of the river. Some other rafters tried to rescue them but after those attempts failed they called the sheriff’s office.
The Flathead County Sheriff’s swift water rescue team, North Valley Search and Rescue, Glacier National Park and Two Bear Air all responded to the incident. The family was then picked up by helicopter shortly after dusk.
No one was injured in the incident.
