BILLINGS — The Montana Highway Patrol says a body was found burned beyond recognition inside a vehicle in Stillwater County.
Trooper Todd Hagenbuch told the Billings Gazette the burned vehicle was found Tuesday evening about five miles north of Reed Point in southcentral Montana.
He says the 1987 Chevrolet El Camino appeared to have gone off the road and gotten stuck, and at some point a fire began in the vehicle or in the grass outside.
There were no witnesses, and it was unclear how long the burned vehicle and body had been there.
Authorities are awaiting confirmation of the deceased person’s identity from the county coroner.
