Christina Aragon placed third in her opening-round heat of the 1500-meter race on Thursday at the Olympic Trials , advancing to Friday’s semifinal round.
The 19-year-old Billings runner clocked 4:14 in the Thursday heat, placing third out of 10 competitors.
She qualified for the semifinals in Eugene, Oregon and will race in the first heat on Friday night around 6 p.m. MDT.
There will be two semifinal heats and the top five in each heat, as well as the next two fastest times overall, will advance to the championship race on Sunday night. The top three finishers in the championship, if they meet the Olympic standard of 4:07, will qualify for the Summer Olympics in Rio, which begins Aug. 5.
