Jason Lehtola and Ryan Porch edged Jimmy Mee and Joe Cielak in a one-hole playoff to win the ninth annual Flathead Beacon Pro-Scratch Invitational golf tournament at Northern Pines on July 26.

Lehtola and Porch teamed up to shoot 63- 65 — 128 to win this year’s tournament. The victory came only a few days after Porch, a Kalispell native, won the Montana State Amateur Golf Championship in Laurel.

Mee and Cielak rallied to tie Lehtola and Porch after shooting a 10-under 62 on Tuesday, forcing a sudden-death playoff.

This year’s Beacon Pro-Scratch featured a full field of 36 teams with many of the best professional and amateur golfers in Montana.

“Tom Clary approached me nine years ago with a unique idea of having a tournament for the pros and low-handicap amateurs where it was all about golfing your ball without handicaps,” Maury Povich, the owner of the Flathead Beacon, said. “I immediately bought into the idea and the Beacon has been proud to be its title sponsor.”
