A transient has been charged with felony assault with a weapon after an altercation in downtown Whitefish last month.
Tracey Jade Johnston was arrested after the altercation on July 13 and he will be arraigned later this month.
According to court documents, the Whitefish Police Department responded to a report of an assault at the corner of Central Avenue and First Street in downtown Whitefish. According to two men, Johnston approached them and made threats before trying to kick them and then pull out a knife. Johnston then left but a few moments later came back and pulled the knife out a second time.
If convicted, Johnston could face up to 20 years in prison.
