Fire crews have made significant progress on the Bierney Creek fire in Lakeside.
The blaze, estimated at 60 acres, is 60 percent contained, according to the Saturday morning update from fire officials.
Fire managers have been using infrared camera to locate areas in the fire that are still actively burning and holding heat. Crews continue to grid the area and suppress any hot spots while further strengthening the containment line. There are roughly 112 personnel assigned to the fire.
“They’re really confident that they have it under control, even with the little bit of wind we received this weekend,” Tessa Powell, public information officer with the team assigned to the fire, said.
