Xanterra Earns ‘Good Neighbor’ Environmental Award

Xanterra Parks and Resorts, the concessioner operating lodging, retail, transportation, and food and drink within Glacier National Park, received a national award for its achievement in environmentally friendly practices.

The Environmental Achievement “Good Neighbor” Award comes from the National Park Service for Xanterra’s work within the Flathead community. Such achievements include:

• 22 percent reduction in the amount of solid waste sent to the landfill from 2014

• 12 percent reduction in electricity usage from 2014

• 10 percent reduction in water usage from 2014

• 59 percent sustainable food and beverage purchases, equaling more than $1 million, of which $675,000 went to local food and beverage providers

• Sold over 2.5 times more local whiskey than the larger national brands

• Donated over two tons of furniture to Habitat for Humanity

• Purchased a solar panel as part of Flathead Electric’s SUN Program

• Season sponsor for the Columbia Falls Community Farmers Market
