New Brewery Developing in Downtown Kalispell

Copperwood Brewing is slated to open in 2018

By Dillon Tabish

A new brewery is in the works in downtown Kalispell.

Adam and Amanda Robertson, a husband and wife who live in Whitefish, recently purchased the former American Carpet Center building at 409 First Ave. E. and are renovating the 6,500-square-foot space into a taphouse and brewery.

Copperwood Brewing is slated to open in 2018.

The Robertsons’ enterprise originated in Whitefish as a hobby home brewery called “BrewHaus 651,” which featured a rotating cast of experimental craft beers. Robertson’s beers earned an enthusiastic following across the Flathead Valley and beyond. In the summer of 2016, Adam and Amanda decided to turn their passionate hobby into an entrepreneurial pursuit and a new way of life.

“We’ve been dreaming of opening a brewery for a while now and are really excited that our dream is coming true,” Adam Robertson said. “We hope that Flathead beer lovers are looking forward to another option to get a great pint of beer.”
