Kalispell attorney and substitute judge Eric Hummel was named justice of the peace by the Flathead County Commission on Nov. 15. Hummel will be replacing Dan Wilson who was elected earlier this month to the Flathead County District Court.
“I’m committed to timely and fair decisions for the people of Flathead County,” Hummel said moments after the commission unanimously approved his appointment.
Originally from Billings, Hummel graduated from the University of Montana’s School of Law in 1996. He worked as a Flathead County Deputy Attorney from 1998 until 2001 when he opened a private practice. In the past he has also taught criminal law and procedure at the Flathead Valley Community College.
