FVCC Students Collecting Holiday Gifts for CASA Children

By Beacon Staff

Flathead Valley Community College’s Service Learning Office is collecting holiday gifts for local children represented by the nonprofit organization CASA for Kids.

Students have decorated “giving” trees with paper angels representing children in need of gifts. The trees are located in the lobbies of the Rebecca Chaney Broussard Center for Nursing and Health Science, Blake Hall and the Arts and Technology buildings on campus.

To make a donation, remove an ornament from one of the trees and purchase an appropriate gift for the gender and age specified on the ornament. Attach the ornament to the unwrapped gift, and return the gift to the Service Learning Office inside Blake Hall by Dec. 9.

In Flathead County, CASA for Kids recruits, trains and supports community volunteers who stand up and speak out to help abused and neglected children. Over 80 advocates serve more than 240 children in Flathead County. The trained advocates are appointed by the court as guardians ad litem and serve the children until they find a safe, permanent home.
